Lifesaving Society - First Aid & More

#1 Affiliate Partner in BC & First Aid Committee Member

The Lifesaving Society

The Lifesaving Society is one of the most popular first aid courses in Canada and across the world. This non-profit organization started in 1894 and is largely focused on water-safety and drowning prevention. Naturally, first aid courses are a large part of those skills and trainings. For more information on the BC/Yukon Branch of the Lifesaving Society, please visit their website

The Courses

The Lifesaving Society First Aid courses are recognized nationally with individual recognition from each provincial government as well. The curriculum is well crafted and offers a variety of levels or options useful to anyone requiring a certification. Lifeguards or those in water-related careers or hobbies will find these especially relevant as these first aid courses also bridge nicely into other courses such as Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion and National Lifeguard. Heck ya we do! While Emergency and Standard First Aid are WorkSafeBC approved equivalents to Occupational First Aid, and will be accepted as such, we also offer private OFA courses. Reach out via info@firstaidnearme.ca for more info.

Yes! Of course! Both Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid are WorkSafeBC approved. As a Training Partner and Affiliate of the Red cross and Life Saving Society, we are authorized to issue OFA Level 1 equivalents that are accepted in lieu of OFA.

Absolutely! First Aid Near Me is happy to issue recertifications for any former Red Cross, St John’s Ambulance, Heart and Stroke or Life Saving Society certificate. Please present to your instructor on the day of your course.

Instructors will issue a temporary certificate immediately after the successful completion of any of our courses. In the following 4-6 weeks, you’ll receive your official certificate from the Life Saving Society via email.

All of the courses provided by First Aid Near Me are certified through either the Red Cross, Life Saving Society or the Canadian Safety Council (youth courses specifically). FANM is an authorized Training Partner and Affiliate of the Red Cross and the Life Saving Society.

All First Aid Courses are designed for those 13+ years old. Too young for those? We also have the Home Alone Program (10+ years old) and the Babysitting course (12+ years old) available on a regular basis.

Basic Life Support is a new course that replaces Health Care Provider First Aid. Think of these two as being identical courses just with a new and improved name.
